My Appeal To Heaven
I asked aloud, I spoke my prayer, I spoke my plea
And like a fool, I stood there waiting patiently
But no one came, nothing sprang before me
Nothing knocked me to my knees, or rescued me
Or set me free
I stumbled home, I heard a sound so dark and sweet
And like a fool, I stood there listening patiently
Just wood and wire, just a three-chord rhumba
Just a sound I'd never heard, without a word
Surrendered me
My appeal to heaven echoed in my ears
The reply came loud and clear
A sound so dear that it's stuck forever here
